New Orleans Saints

by Ezycat 1. December 2009 09:49

Could not help my glee and enjoyment watching the New Orleans Saints dissect the New England Patriots Monday

night.  The first time I saw Drew Brees in action was when they soundly defeated the Giants in October.  He is a stellar quarterback with the supporting team members receiving, running and blocking.  I believe the New Orleans Saints could go, in the words of Chris Berman, “Alll Thee Wayy” undefeated.  Time for the 72 Dolphins to swallow their pride.

For the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick, their days are ebbing rapidly.  Were they really that good?  Without a doubt Tom Brady is one of NFL footballs great quarter backs.

Is Bill Belichick that good?  Does he deserve the continual press and announcer hype?  let us not forget the time they were caught secretly filming the Jets to obtain play information.  How many other teams did they film?  This cloud, which was dismissed quickly, will always hang over the New England Patriots and the coaching staff.

Tebow’s Last Game in the Swamp

by Ezycat 26. November 2009 13:22

Saturday brings Tim Tebow’s last game in the Swamp.  Aptly named by Steve Spurrier, the Swamp has been home for Tim Tebow for the last four college football seasons.  The joy and pride by all gator fans during his presence will be hard to replace.

Some memorable moments in Tebow’s career:

  • The jump pass against LSU
  • Chris Leak backup, converting third and fourth downs
  • The concussion at Kentucky
  • The promise after the home loss to Ole Miss
  • The excitement he brings to the field

The Gators and Tim Tebow will move on, but the memories will be hard to replace.

Finally, Florida will defeat FSU; Florida 31 FSU 10.

Weekend College Football

by Ezycat 8. November 2009 08:59

Alabama beats LSU.  Being a Gator fan I guess either team could have won.  If LSU had won there probably would have been a rematch between them and Florida in Atlanta for the SEC championship.  Now, it most likely will be Florida vs Alabama, with the winner most likely playing in the BCS bowl championship.  If Texas is the opponent, I believe they will have a very hard time beating either team.

Can Florida win another BCS bowl championship?  Not if they continue to play like they did against Vanderbilt.  Tebow was sacked several times and overall I thought they looked sloppy.  The Florida passing game has become lame, so the offense has become Tebow which is easy to defend.  Were it not for the Florida defense they would not be undefeated.

Is it the past weeks distractions of Brandon Spikes susposed eye gouging or the $30,000 fine Urban Meyer received for negative comments about officials that is causing the poor play.  Not sure, but there are three season games left to get it together.  Urban, this weeks practice need to be focus, focus, focus!

Regarding the officiating.  Florida reported a late hit and the SEC officials became defensive.  It was a late hit. Watch the You Tube Video

Outside the SEC.  What has happened to Notre Dame?  They use to be the icon of College Football.

Finally, cold weather is coming.  Get College Sports Bedding Here:  College Sports Bedding

Saturday Afternoon in the Swamp

by Ezycat 16. October 2009 15:57

Arkansas visits Florida, kickoff 3:30PM Saturday.  Last week was "Saturday night at death valley".  This week "Saturday Afternoon in the Swamp".  Arkansas comes in a 25 point underdog for homecoming weekend and Florida is coming off a physical emotional game at LSU.  Can Urban Meyer keep the team fully focused so there is not another Ole Miss "Shocker"?

Meyer said he had a hard time getting the Gators attention last season before the Ole Miss game because the Rebels were not playing very well entering the game.  Arkansas is different, according to Meyer.  Arkansas is coming off and impressive 44-23 win againast Auburn, who was undefeated until that game.  Offensively, Arkansas is starting to click??

Let's look at some stats.  Auburn: 163 pts of offense against them, 230 scored points.  Arkansas: 139 pts of offense against them, 187 scored pts. Florida: 32 pts offense against them, 195 pts scored.

I don't believe the 25 pt spread, in favor of Florida, will materialize, but I am certain Arkansas will score at the most 10 pts.  Offensively caution will be exercised with Tebow, which should be the case.  The defense will dominate and their quarterback Ryan Mallett will have a tough day.  Remember, Florida has only allowed 32 points so far this season.

Gators Do It Again!

by Tracy 12. October 2009 15:08

Florida pulls off another win. Number 1 ranked Gators now 5-0 look destined to be National Champions this year. Was the success due to Tebow's return or the combination of Florida's arsinal of weapons. While Tebow did look good, was he the same Tim Tebow? He says he played it smart, was that it or did he shy away from his typical playing style?

Florida vs Tennessee

by Tracy 17. September 2009 15:35
With the Florida Gators favored to win next weekends match up with the Tennessee Volunteers, do the Vols have a chance at winning?! The 2-0 Gators are averaging over 600 yards of total offense. Can the Tennessee defense hold them?

Super Bowl XLIII, Don’t Forget the Super Bowl Pools

by Paul 4. February 2009 11:59

How many Super Bowl XLII viewers bet on Super Bowl Pools and attended parties for the event?  Super Bowl parties have become an American tradition, and a wager by picking a box in a Super Bowl pool increases the excitement and interest.

A couple of years ago, USA Today estimated more than $8 billion would be bet on that year's Super Bowl, with perhaps 1 percent wagered legally in Nevada and the rest illegally in office pools, informal bets and online sites.

The party I attended had its share of Super Bowl pools.  The pools varied in size with a winning potential of two digits to five digits.  Multiple pools, with multiple drinks amongst multiple friend’s leads to lots of fun and craziness.   One pool had an ending third quarter countdown, for fear of the other team scoring.  Another pool had to wait for an official review before settlement.  The best pool was the final score with Pittsburgh scoring in the final moments of the game.  One woman present displayed an unknown side of her personality when she started screaming “kill the @$?#@”.   Many of us wanted Arizona to win, but the pool number said Pittsburgh must score. So much for our love of Arizona, and wanting to see them victorious.

The game has ended and all payments have been made to the winners and the losers are sad.  Do the winners realize they are required to report winnings on income-tax returns? How seriously people take this responsibility is anyone's guess.

According to H&R Block, “A lot of people just don’t know” they are suppose to report Super Bowl pool winnings
Simply put, if you receive money, prizes or awards like a trip or new car from a lottery, a local raffle, a casino or sports betting, you are supposed to report the winnings as income on Schedule A of your federal-tax return. You could be subject to estimated tax payments on your winnings as well.

Super Bowl XLII was well played, exciting and Pittsburgh was victorious, the excitement is even greater when you have some money riding on a Super Bowl pool.

Memories of the game and teams are available in the form of team sports bedding and décor for Pittsburgh and Arizona at The Ezy Catalog.

Teebow vs Bradford, doesn't get any better than this!

by Paul 23. December 2008 10:46
There will be a total of 34 College Bowl Games, starting on Dec 20th.  Dec 20th has four bowl games, one that I could not help but notice the Eagle Bank Bowl in Washington DC ( I thought banks were broke, how can they afford a bowl game?).  Anyhow, if you want to see a calendar for all of the bowl games go to this link at USA Today.

The best bowl games, as usual, begin on Jan 1, which always features the Rose Bowl and all its pageantry, finalize on Jan 8 with the FedEx BCS National Championship Bowl; Florida Vs. Okalahoma.  Was not too long ago they all took place on Jan 1, starting somewhere around 8:00 eastern time and going until midnight eastern time; must have been difficult for the Hawaii college fans to watch those early morning games.

As time progressed and bowl games increased we extended the schedule and saved the best for last.  This year this is very appropriate for the two teams playing the especially for the two quarterbacks facing each other.  Teebow, winner of the 2007 Hiesman Award and Bradford, winner of the 2008 Hiesman Award faceoff with an aresnal of talent behind each of them.  Whats even more facinating here is the coach faceoff.  Urban Meyer vs Bob Stoops.  Remember when Florida was struggling with Ron Zook and Stoops was being asked to leave Okalahoma for Florida; very interesting?  Also, if memory serves me corrrect Stoops was defensive coordinator under Steve Spurier.  Another interesting tidbit: Urban Meyer and Bob Stoops grew up an hour apart in the same northern Ohio region.

Who is the favorite, Florida or Okalahoma?  Being an avid Florida fan, Florida of course.  Being pragmatic and looking at the matchup; Florida.  Both teams can score points but looking at the average point scored against each team Okalahoma has 23.7 and Florida has 11.  The little bit I have watched Okalahoma, they appear to have a good offensive line that gives Bradford plenty of time.  Should that time element diminish, goodby Okalahoma, hello Florida.  Remember the Ohio State game, a profolic quarterback behind a good offensive line crumbled.  Anyhow, thats my prediction!
